Where’s My Refund?
The best way for taxpayers to check the status of their federal refund is to use the “Where's My Refund?” tool, found at https://www.irs.gov/refunds. You can usually see your refund status after 48 hours of e-file acceptance.
To use the tool, you need internet access, your Social Security Number or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number, Filing Status, and the exact whole dollar amount of your refund. If PPG Partners prepares your tax return, this refund amount will be listed on the letter we send you with your tax return, or you can find it at the bottom of page 2 of your Form 1040.
Many states also have similar “Where’s My Refund” tools or apps. These tools may require you to enter additional information. You can search for your state’s tool by entering a phrase such as “Where’s my refund (state)” into a search engine.
