QuickBooks Online Payroll: Important Payroll Tax Update

QuickBooks Online Payroll: Important Payroll Tax Update

If you use QuickBooks Online for payroll, an important change is coming that requires action by June 30, 2026, if not already taken.

Beginning July 1, 2026, QuickBooks Online Payroll will automatically pay and file all payroll taxes that are already set up in your account. Once this change takes effect, users will no longer be able to manually submit payments or filings for those taxes through the Payroll Tax Center. The option to turn off automated tax payments and filings will also be removed from payroll settings.

In short, QuickBooks will handle payroll tax payments and filings automatically for applicable taxes. This is intended to help reduce the time spent tracking due dates, submitting payments, and filing forms manually.

Action Required

By June 30, 2026, a primary admin or company admin must sign in to QuickBooks and acknowledge that the company has been notified of this change. If PPG Partners has the admin role for your QuickBooks account, then we would have already have completed this Acknowledgment.

To acknowledge the change, select “Acknowledge” in the QuickBooks email notification, or go to Payroll Overview in QuickBooks and select “Acknowledge change.”

Businesses that continue using QuickBooks Payroll after June 30, 2026, will be agreeing to use the service with automated payroll tax payments and filings.
